Customize your HEA

 It's as easy as 1-2-3 ...

  1. Complete the online Your Home Energy Report;

  2. Request an HEA with Electric Energy Emphasis; or

  3. Request an HEA with Buiding Diagnostics.

1.  Your Home Energy Report
(required to participate in the HEA program)

  • Log into the Power of OneĀ® portal at www.mnpower.com/portal and complete the Your Home Energy Report (YHER). Please have your Minnesota Power account number (located on your Minnesota Power electric bill) accessible.
  • Once you have completed the YHER questionnaire, view your report for customized recommendations. If a Home Energy Analysis is recommended, click the Home Energy Analysis icon to request your in-home energy analysis.
  • A qualified energy auditor will contact you to set up a visit.

Get started now! Go to www.mnpower.com/portal or call 218-355-2843 (option 3) with questions about the YHER and Home Energy Analysis.

2.    HEA with Electric Energy Emphasis (Standard Audit)

What is it?

Based on the results of the Your Home Energy Report (YHER), your energy auditor will help you find out how to get the most for your electric energy dollar. The energy auditor will visit your home and analyze how you use electricity, determine your electric energy use per appliance and develop an action plan for saving energy and managing costs.

You'll learn how to optimize your electric usage by changing the way you use appliances through day-to-day choices, how to determine the "right fit" for investments in energy-saving equipment, heating and cooling, appliances and lighting, and how to take advantage of Minnesota Power's Found Money rebates.

In some cases, MP will work with your gas utility or Community Action Agency (CAA) to deliver a comprehensive energy anaysis. Check with your heating fuel provider or CAA to see if they participate.

3.   HEA with Building Diagnostics Services
  (fee-for-service program)

What is it?

Building diagnostics takes a traditional Home Energy Analysis to the next level by adding blower door testing and infrared thermal scans to identify air leaks and reduced insulation levels in your home. If two or more items from the list below apply to your home, you may be a candidate for HEA with Building Diagnostics and could begin identifying ways to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home.

  • cold drafts in winter

  • sweaty windows in winter

  • uneven temperatures between rooms

  • heating system does not keep home comfortable

  • cooling system does not keep home comfortable

  • ice dams
